Dear ULI Ireland members and friends,

I am pleased to say that the Urban Land Institute (ULI) organisation in Ireland continues to go from strength to strength. We continue to grow our membership and extend our sphere of influence.

During Q1, we hosted a series of excellent events including:

• a thought-provoking presentation from MEP Ciarán Cuffe on sustainability in the built environment and the rollout of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) in each EU member state

• an event in collaboration with the Belfast City & Region Place Partnership to showcase investment opportunities in the Belfast region

• a very successful site visit to Limerick City at the invitation of Limerick Twenty Thirty to explore some key developments and the significant opportunity this historic city offers to occupiers and investors alike

• a thought-provoking site visit to Bartra and Niche Living’s co-living scheme in Dun Laoghaire, which was an excellent opportunity to see at first hand the calibre of the development and associated amenities

• a full week of Urban Plan training workshops with secondary school students to encourage more people to consider a career in the built environment

It has been a busy first quarter and we are now excited about our next two events, a not-to-be missed Lunch & Learn event with real estate industry expert Margaret Fleming on 15 May and our ‘Big Debate’ on 23 May at which an excellent panel of speakers will debate the merits of a Directly Elected Mayor for Dublin.
